Michael Heyes
Michael Heyes was appointed as Chief Financial Officer of Jumeirah Group in October 2022.
Prior to his appointment as Chief Financial Officer, Michael had served as Senior Vice President since July 2019, where he led the Group’s Corporate Finance functions including Group FP&A, Financial Reporting, Tax and Treasury, alongside financial oversight of Jumeirah’s Restaurants and Leasing businesses. In this time, he has delivered a number of significant projects, including the Group’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic and revised operating model, the Group’s long-term funding strategy and the integration of new businesses.
Michael is a high performing leader with extensive experience at executive level in international blue-chip organisations, across a range of sectors, disciplines, and geographies. In his capacity as Chief Financial Officer of Jumeirah Group, he is mandated with executing the Group’s Financial strategy in line with their ambitious growth plans, ensuring strong shareholder returns and robust financial governance.
A Chartered Accountant and a graduate of Cambridge University in the UK. Michael began his career as an auditor with EY, before moving to the Royal Bank of Scotland’s Global Banking & Markets division, advising on large corporate transactions, credit risk and balance sheet structuring in the FMCG and hospitality sectors. Thereafter, he moved into the Construction and Real Estate sector, where he spent 10 years in various senior finance roles in the UK’s largest privately owned construction company, Laing O’Rourke, and more latterly with Lendlease, the Australian ASX-listed multi-national real estate group.
Michael moved to the UAE in 2016 as Chief Financial Officer for EMAAR International, overseeing large-scale real estate development projects across the MENA region, encompassing mixed use residential, retail, commercial and hospitality assets.
