Things to consider

When it comes to swimwear, aim to bring at least two sets; a stylish option for poolside relaxing and something more practical and comfortable for scuba diving and swimming.
Sunglasses and sun hat
Two essentials that you won’t want to forget; bring good-quality sunglasses, and make sure your hat is wide-brimmed and shades the back of your neck.
Flip-flops or sandals
You’ll be walking on endless carpets of sand so leave the closed shoes – especially heels – at home, in favour of sandals or flip-flops.
Comfy daywear
Pack a few options of relaxed separates for daytime; vests/bandeau tops and shorts for her, and T-shirts and shorts for him.

When all you want to do is laze in a hammock on the beach, a good book or fully loaded Kindle are the best companions you can have.
Underwater camera
The Maldives is most beautiful underwater. Pack an underwater camera like a GoPro or a waterproof camera case so you can snap your sub-aquatic adventures.
Insect repellant
Keep mosquito bites at bay with all-important, and preferably natural, insect repellant.
Sunscreen
Should be top of everyone’s list. Make sure you look carefully at the ingredients and buy a reef-friendly one, which doesn’t contain the chemical oxybenzone, known to damage coral.
Dry bag
If you’re planning to head out to sea for a day of fishing or scuba diving, a handy dry bag will keep your sundries splash-free.
Medicines
You’re on an island in the middle of nowhere so if you need any essential medication, bring it with you. Otherwise, it can take time to source it from elsewhere.
Leave behind
Towels
Don’t waste suitcase space packing unnecessary towels when the resort will have them for you.
Snorkelling accessories
Your resort will have these too, so save space and leave bulky snorkels and flippers at home.
