Abu Dhabi is full of action-packed activities for all ages. Here are our favourite things to do with kids when you’re in the UAE capital.

Children’s Museum

The Children’s Museum at the Abu Dhabi Louvre is specifically designed for young visitors. Set over two floors, it introduces visitors to the core concepts of art and how artists create masterpieces, throughout a range of innovative galleries. In addition to the Children’s Museum, kids can take a kayak around the Louvre exterior. A work of art in itself, the building looks as if it’s sitting on the water.

Ferrari World

Recently voted the best theme park in the Middle East, Ferrari World has almost 40 different rides and attractions, all decked out in the red and yellow colour scheme of the world’s most famous supercar. Kids of all ages will have plenty to keep them occupied, from the twists and turns of the slides at Nello’s Adventureland to the Formula Rossa, the world’s fastest rollercoaster (0 – 240km/h in under five seconds).

Other attractions are more geared toward learning. Made in Maranello offers visitors an experiential tour of how a Ferrari GT is made, while the Tyre Change Experience gives children a peak into the intense world of a Formula 1 pit crew. And don’t forget to take a spin at the Karting Academy, a 290m-long go-karting circuit that’s great for children and parents alike.

Falcon Hospital

Opened in 1999, the Falcon Hospital is the region’s largest centre devoted exclusively to the care of falcons. Some 6,000 birds come through its doors every year and are treated across 200 air-conditioned treatment rooms. Tours are given twice daily, and visitors can sit in on procedures, feed and even hold falcons on their arm. It’s the perfect place to give children a passion for nature and for Abu Dhabi’s unique sporting heritage.

Yas Waterworld

Yas Waterworld is Abu Dhabi’s answer to Dubai’s Wild Wadi Waterpark. Situated on the picturesque Yas Island about 30 mins from the heart of the city, Yas Waterworld offers a range of aquatic activities including fabulous wave pools, sheet surfing and slide racing. What sets Yas Waterworld apart though are its high-octane rides, including the Liwa Loop, and the Falcons Falaj, a six-seater water coaster perfect for families.
