Channelling an opulent atmosphere that befits Jumeirah Al Qasr, which has been designed to reflect the regal flourishes of an Arabian palace, the recently opened Celeste is a shimmering 22-metre adults-only infinity pool. With its beach views and bar, guests can expect to find a chic summer spot that’s within an easy stroll of Madinat Jumeirah’s delicious restaurants – such as the Mediterranean chic of the French Riviera pop-up, the fresh-from-the-ocean seafood served at Rockfish and the range of Greek meze that make the alfresco space at Shimmers so popular. Access to Celeste, as well as several other pools and a two-kilometre expanse of private beach, is part of an Ultimate Daycation package.
The Spanish island of Mallorca also offers a variety of pools that are the perfect place for swimming and sunbathing. Like Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel & Spa’s infinity pool that’s seemingly suspended on a rugged clifftop above the azure waters of the Mediterranean. And while the views of the dramatic Tramuntana mountain range will inspire the mind, the body can benefit from the soothing waters of the outdoor heated hydropool, which is intended to relieve tense muscles, boost circulation and promote relaxation. And, if you have littles ones who love to make a splash, there’s the family-friendly Sa Talaia pool.
Whether you are perfecting your front crawl or simply floating on a wave, the weightless sensation that comes with being immersed in water has a host of health benefits and offers a great opportunity to exercise – the resistance of the water boosts core strength while always ensuring that joints are safely supported and therefore avoiding injury.
The beautiful surrounds of our pools and beaches also add to this relaxing aquatic experience. Like at Jumeirah Al Naseem, where three huge pools are surrounded by swaying palm trees and winding walkways, with the stunning Arabian Gulf as a backdrop. While at Jumeirah Al Qasr, Dubai’s largest outdoor temperature-controlled pool is set amid flower-filled gardens. Staying in a suite here, the boutique retreat of Jumeirah Mina A’Salam or one of Jumeirah Dar Al Masyaf’s traditional villas, grants guests access to these stunning swimming pools, as well as a pristine stretch of white-sand shoreline.
For a stylish swim, it has to be the Burj Al Arab’s spectacular infinity pool on The Terrace, where chic cabanas offer a shaded spot and some truly VIP service – place your order with a dedicated butler to enjoy drinks and snacks from Scape Restaurant and Bar, or make for the sun loungers that are arranged on the beach area.
In Italy, Capri Palace is home to an equally eye-catching swimming spot – thanks to the colourful underwater mosaic that’s designed by artist Velasco Vitali and decorates the bottom of the property’s impressive 40m swimming pool.
Then, as we move from arty attractions to state-of-the-art tech, the thalassotherapy pools at the Talise Spa in Jumeirah Zabeel Saray are filled with saltwater that’s rich in a range of health-promoting minerals such as magnesium, zinc and potassium, while the blend of Epsom salts and heated water used in the therapeutic flotation pool room at Jumeirah Emirates Towers offers an anti-gravity experience that’s believed to be as beneficial as an eight-hour sleep.
