To mark the 200th anniversary of Queen Victoria's birth, Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel has partnered with Tally Ho Experiences to bring guests a taste of Victorian life. The Penny-Farthing and Picnic Experience combines an al fresco feast created by the hotel’s chefs, with a quintessentially Victorian past time.

Guests will receive a picnic hamper laden with traditional British provisions, perfect for enjoying outdoors. They contain:

• Ploughman’s sandwiches with Montgomery cheddar and Branston pickle
• Smoked gammon ham and English mustard sandwiches
• Scottish smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwiches
• British artisan cheeses, assorted crackers and breads
• Tomato, watermelon and cucumber salad with fresh mint
• Ham and spring onion quiche
• Victoria sponge, apple pie or lemon tart

After the picnic, guests will have the opportunity to learn to ride the most Victorian of contraptions – the penny-farthing bicycle. Tally Ho Experiences’ tutors will guide guests through the art of safely mounting, riding and dismounting a penny-farthing, in one of London’s quiet historic squares, before taking confident riders on a tour of Royal London, including cycling down Pall Mall to Buckingham Palace.

The Penny-Farthing and Picnic Experience is available on certain dates throughout the year at a cost of £165 per person. Standalone picnics can also be ordered for £40 per person, and for an additional charge of £30, Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel will deliver, set up and collect the picnic hamper from Hyde Park.
